Monti Neighbourhood

We’ll start the tour in Piazza Madonna dei Monti to break the ice the Italian way, with a glass of local wine. Then we’ll head into Monti, one of Rome’s trendiest neighbourhoods with a dark, scandalous past. Monti was known as a “suburra” or red light district of the city, where gangsters and gamblers roamed. This is where your guide will tell you stories of sex and bloodshed that you won’t hear on your average walking tour. Then we’ll head to some modern, atmospheric bars to get a taste of the city’s nightlife.

Carpano Classico

This Italian favourite was created in 1786 by distiller Antonio Benedetto Carpano when he mixed an array of botanicals to create a unique and timeless beverage, loved by Italians everywhere. As you enjoy your glass, you’ll realise that we’re essentially doing the same thing as Carpano, mixing a great group of people together to create Roman magic. See what we did there? Sippin’ on Spritz

Anyone who thinks of Italy undoubtedly thinks of Spritz. Take part in this Italian tradition (othertraditions include terrible driving, excessive hand gestures, and wearing sunglasses after dark)and indulge in the bitter flavours of Aperol or Campari Spritz. We’ve all heard about “la dolce vita”, but here we’ll practise “dolce far niente”, the sweetness of doing nothing, but getting tipsy of course!

Limoncello, with a view

To you and me, Limoncello is like Friday night lemonade, but to Italians, it’s “Mother’s Milk”. This sweet, sugary, after-dinner digestif is best enjoyed with a view, which is why we’ll walk down Via Fori Imperiali, one of Rome’s most iconic and beautiful streets. Here we’ll enjoy the view of the ancient city by night and listen to a story about the most hated building in Rome, while sipping on ice-cold limoncello.
