A welcome re-introduction to Trastevere Was so glad I booked this tour as I was traveling solo after friends left for home the day prior. Hadn’t been to Trastevere since first visit 38 years prior so wanted to experience what it had become and taste the foods of that part of Rome. Our guide Ana was exceptional and shared her love of food and background of each place on the tour that made it very enjoyable. This is a tour would recommend to anyone who wants to get a glimpse of Trastevere and places/shops/restaurants to discover!

Food highlight of our family Rome trip. Dominica was a brilliant guide on our food tour of Trastevere. We were a family group of 6 aged 14 to 80 and Dominica engaged everyone in the 3 hour gastronomic experience as we visited 4 authentic and special food venues ranging from cheese and meats to pasta and gelato plus wine for the adults and soft drinks for the children. She educated us in an informal and fun manner to learn about the different delicacies and on the Trastevere neighbourhood. I think this was the food highlight of our Rome trip. Thank you Dominica!

Fun Tour Anna was an excellent guide! We experienced a variety of foods in close proximity to our starting point, so an easy walk through the Trastevere neighborhood. Anna provided a good explanation of everything we ate and drank.

Good guide, okay good The guide Adib was wonderful. He was informative, eager to answer questions, and funny. Had no issues with him whatsoever but was overall underwhelmed with the tour. First tasting was charcuterie. It was just fine. The guide mentioned that restaurant would be his recommendation a good dinner spot so curious why charcuterie of all dishes there was the dish of choice. Next spot was Alice pizza. Meh. The Supli was good, hard to mess that up I feel but the 4 pizza choices ranged between bland and tasteless to just fine. I’ve been on several Rome food tours, there are much butter pizza options in Trastevere. The pasta dish was really good, really nice restaurant and the Gelato might have been the best I’ve ever had and really saved the tour for me. Tour includes a lot of food, you won’t leave hungry. But I didn’t love the tasting choices/selections .

Great tour, great food, great guide We took the small group walking food tour in Trastevere and cannot recommend it highly enough. Food amazing, right pace and balance of walking and eating/drinking. Sila was our guide and she was excellent. She also recommended other places to go which we went to. Don’t hesitate to book if you are a foodie and want to have a very enjoyable few hours trying local foods.

frequently asked questions

What does the tour include?

The tour includes a variety of traditional Roman cuisine with at least 10 different tastings, all paired with local drinks. The menu changes seasonally, so you’ll always experience something fresh and unique!

Is this tour family-friendly?

Absolutely! Our food tour is family-friendly and perfect for all ages. Kids especially love the gelato, making it a fun and delicious experience for the whole family.

How much walking do we do on the tour?

While the focus of the tour is on food, there will be some walking between our stops. We’ll keep the pace relaxed, and no walk will be more than 10 minutes. Comfortable shoes are recommended for an easy stroll through Rome!

Can we choose what we eat on the tour?

While the menu is mostly predetermined, you will have some flexibility in choosing pasta sauces, wine, and gelato flavours. If you have specific dietary restrictions or allergies, let us know in advance, and we’ll make sure to offer suitable alternatives. Our local guides, passionate about Roman cuisine, will ensure you're satisfied with your selections.

If I'm vegetarian can I still eat on the tour?

Yes, we offer vegetarian-friendly options, although they might be more limited compared to the full menu. Unfortunately, we can’t accommodate vegan diets or gluten-free needs at this time. Be sure to inform us of any dietary restrictions ahead of time, and we’ll do our best to accommodate your needs.

How long is the food tour?

The tour lasts about 3 hours, giving you plenty of time to enjoy the flavours of Rome and learn about the local culinary culture.

Will the tour be cancelled if it rains?

No, it won't rain on our parade! Rain or shine, the tour will go ahead. Rome’s weather is often on our side, but if it does rain, we’ll enjoy indoor tastings for most of the tour, so there’s no need to worry.

How big are the groups on the tour?

We keep our groups intimate, with a maximum of 15 people per tour. This ensures personalised attention from your guide and a more enjoyable experience for everyone. If you're travelling with 6 people or fewer we recommend upgrading to our semi-private Rome Food tour. This option provides a more comfortable experience, dedicated attention from your guide, and an upgraded menu with a meat or veggie course and a glass of limoncello!

What if I don't eat certain foods?

No problem! If you’re a picky eater, just let us know in advance, and we’ll help find suitable alternatives to ensure you enjoy every bite of the tour.

Are drinks included?

Yes! You’ll enjoy local wines and beers, or you can opt for non-alcoholic drinks if preferred. We also encourage guests to bring a reusable water bottle so you can refill at one of the many water fountains along our route, helping us reduce waste.

Do I need to speak Italian?

Not at all! Our tours are conducted in English by fluent, local guides who are excited to share the best of Roman food with you.

Do you offer private food tours?

Yes, we do! If you’d prefer a more personalised experience, you can upgrade to a private food tour, perfect for special occasions like birthdays, anniversaries, or corporate team-building events.

Do you provide headphones at the cultural stops between restaurants?

Headphones aren’t provided on our tours, except for the Colosseum Arena and Regular Colosseum Tours. If you have hearing difficulties, let your guide know so they can stay nearby while speaking. You’re also welcome to bring your own hearing device.

Where can we store our luggage while we are on the tour?

We don’t provide luggage storage. Since the tour is completely on foot, we recommend using a nearby service like Bounce.com for secure and convenient storage while you enjoy the tour.
