Why can’t I just take an Uber?
Unfortunately, Uber does not operate in Florence. Because of government legislation introduced under pressure from Italy’s infamous taxi lobby, the only Italian cities serviced by Uber are Rome and Milan. Even here, the only available Uber services are Uber Black, Uber Lux or Uber Van, meaning you pay more than you would for typical white taxis.
Tips for Using Taxi Apps in Florence
- Book your accommodation in the centre. Florence is an easily walkable city, covering just under 40 square miles (100 square kilometres). As everything worth seeing is concentrated inside the city centre, within its Renaissance walls, you should look for accommodation somewhere in the centre.
